Early Childhood Resources

​The field of Early Childhood Education includes an abundance of organizations that support the professional development of early childhood teachers and promote improvements in services to young children and families. Early Childhood Educators become members of one or more of these associations to help them grow professionally, stay current on early childhood issues and participate in group efforts to promote change.

Statewide

First Things First
First Things First is a voter-initiated, statewide organization that funds early education and health programs to prepare young children to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Local regional councils, staffed by community volunteers, decide  how funds are spent to support the healthy development and learning of Arizona’s young children.  https://www.firstthingsfirst.org/ 
 
Arizona Association for the Education of Young Children (AZAEYC)
AZAEYC connects NAEYC members in the state of Arizona with continuing education options, scholarships, and both professional development and networking opportunities.  AZAEYC advocate for the early childhood profession and high quality early education or al young children. www.azaeyc.org

Southern Arizona Association for the Education of Young Children (SAZAEYC)
The purpose of SAZAEYC is to serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of all young children with primary focus on the provision of educational and developmental services and resources. Local activities that support early childhood experiences benefit our local communities. www.sazaeyc.org

Valley of the Sun  - A Chapter of AZAEYC (VSECA)
VSECA is the foremost professional association for the early childhood field in Maricopa County.  We provide professional development and foster NAEYC systems support for early child care and education professionals to advance their education and careers. www.vseca.org 

National

Child Care Aware of America (CCAOA)
Child Care Aware® of America works with more than 400 state and local Child Care Resource and Referral agencies nationwide. To achieve our mission, our organization leads projects that increase the quality and availability of child care, undertakes research, and advocates child care policies that positively impact the lives of children and families.

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
The NAEYC is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8 years old.
 
National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC)
NAFCC is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care. 
 
National After School Association (NASA)
NASA  partners with the Afterschool Alliance on issues of public policy and advocacy to advance the issues affecting the afterschool field. 
 
National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI)
NBCDI’s mission is to improve and protect the quality of life of black children and families. Its vision is a society that embraces the commitment to a successful future for every child.
 
National Head Start Association (NHSA)
The National Head Start Association  is a private not-for-profit membership organization dedicated exclusively to meeting the needs of Head Start children and their families.
 
National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE)
The NABE  is the only professional organization at the national level wholly devoted to representing both English language learners and bilingual education professionals.  
 
National Child Care Association (NCCA)
The mission of the National Child Care Association  is to promote the growth and safeguard the interest of quality childhood care and education focusing on licensed, private providers of these services.
 
National Association for Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NA

​Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI)
ACEI  is a global community of educators and advocates who unite their knowledge, experience, and perspectives in order to exchange information, explore innovation, and advocate for children.
 
World Organization for Early Childhood Education – United States National Committee 
OMEP is the only worldwide non-governmental organization that focuses on education and welfare of young children, ages 0-8 years of old.

Funding provided by the Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Division of Child Care through federal Child Care Development Block Grant funds.
